PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The suspected driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident last March has been arrested in Bellingham, WA.
The U.S. Marshals Office said that Ashley Chavez, 23, was taken into custody Friday afternoon about 2:15 p.m. as she was leaving a restaurant.
The Multnomah County Circuit Court issued a warrant for Chavez earlier in the week after Portland police identified her as the driver of the car that allegedly hit Nancy Schoeffler, 63, on March 31.
Police say Schoeffler was killed as she crossed West Burnside.
On Tuesday, police announced they arrested Angela Dawn Kaps-Collins, 43, in connection with the deadly hit-and-run crash.
Kaps-Collins was charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with physical evidence.
Chavez was being interviewed by Portland detectives and members of the Multnomah County District Attorney's office at the Whatcom County Jail.
