Man wanted by FBI found dead in Oregon

BURNS, OR (KPTV) -

The Harney County District Attorney's office confirmed that a man found dead on Wednesday is Phillip Lloyd Ferguson, 62, who was sought by the FBI.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on the body and determined Ferguson died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police found Ferguson in a pickup on a dirt driveway near Burns after they say he fled from police and FBI as they were trying to contact him.

Officials say Ferguson was featured in 2004 on the television show America's Most Wanted in relation to a fraud investigation case out of Indiana.

Ferguson was also known as Roy Vernon Cox.

Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division detectives continue to investigate.
