BORING, OR (KPTV) -
Family and friends will gather in Boring on Monday for a memorial service to honor Marine Cpl. Keaton Coffey.
Coffey, 22, was killed in action in Afghanistan on May 24.
His memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring. It begins at 11 a.m.
Following the service, the funeral procession will make its way down Highway 212 through the city of Damascus. Students at Damascus Christian School are expected to line the sidewalk along the route.
Coffey graduated from the school in 2007. He was killed just three weeks before he was scheduled to return to the U.S. He was also set to get married next month.
Emergency vehicles and motorcycles escorted his body down I-84 on Friday morning to a funeral home in Gresham.
Coffey was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, and was assigned to the First Law Enforcement Battalion.
Gov. John Kitzhaber has ordered flags at half-staff Monday in memory of Cpl. Coffey.
