PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A new chief will soon take over at Portland Fire and Rescue.

On Tuesday, current Fire Marshal Erin Janssens will be sworn in, taking over command that will be passed on from PF&R Fire Chief John Klum.

A ceremony will be held on the steps of Portland City Hall on Southwest Fourth Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Members of the community and media are welcome to attend.

PF&R says Janssens joined the agency in 1988 and has worked at every ranked level of PF&R. She was promoted through the ranks of lieutenant, captain, battalion chief, deputy chief of special operations and fire marshal.

Janssens says she understands the new challenges and opportunities that will come with her new position but that she is looking forward to leading PF&R into the future.
