Portland police are investigating two robberies at gas station convenience stores which are believed to be linked.
Officers say on Monday just before 1 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the Astro Gas Station on Southeast Division.
The victim told detectives two suspects walked into the store, one armed with a handgun. The suspect with the handgun hit the victim in the head with the gun and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.
Later that same day, just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at the Food Mart and Deli on East Burnside Street.
The victim told police that two suspects entered the store, and the man armed with a handgun pistol-whipped the clerk, while the other suspect took cash from the register.
In both cases, the suspects got away. Detectives believe the same men are involved in both robberies.
Police say the suspect armed with the handgun is described as an African-American male, 17 to 24 years old, 5'6" to 5'9" tall, with a thin build and wearing dark clothing. The second suspect is described as an African-American male, 17 to 24 years old, 5'8" tall, with a thin build and wearing all dark clothing.
