A man previously convicted of raping a teenage girl has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing hundreds of images of child pornography.
Richard R Bahr Jr., 30, of Dufur, was sentenced on Tuesday in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography.
In 2003, Bahr was convicted for third-degree rape and sentenced to six years in prison for an encounter involving a teenage girl in Wasco County.
Bahr was on post-prison supervision in the summer of 2010 associated with his rape conviction when detectives found him with more than 600 photos showing very young children, some described as infants, being sexually abused. U.S. District Judge Anna J. Brown said the children in the images were being abused in "exceedingly outrageous ways."
Brown also sentenced Bahr to a life term of supervised release given his history and the graphic nature and shear volume of the photos he had in his possession.
Attorneys said Bahr said nothing during his sentencing.
