
The Marion County sheriff's office is lifting a hiring freeze and plans to add a dozen new deputies.
The sheriff's office held a job fair Wednesday to start considering applicants for six positions as corrections deputies, three parole deputies and three law enforcement deputies.
Spokesman Don Thompson told KPTV that the economy has stabilized somewhat, allowing the department to fill positions that have been left vacant.
The department employs 254 sworn officers and 92 support staffers.
