HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Hillsboro police said a woman wrestled away a gun from her husband and fired nine rounds into the ground in an effort to use up all of the gun's ammunition Thursday morning.

The fight took place outside the Tualatin valley Workshop at 6615 SE Alexander St., where the woman works. Officers were called there at about 8 a.m. when the man entered the business and started to assault his wife, authorities said.

The quarrel spilled out to the parking lot and onto Alexander Street. Surveillance video from a nearby business shows the man chasing after a woman, as they end up across the street and on the ground.

"I hear boom, boom, boom," said Terri Sigler who heard what she later learned were gunshots.

Her co-worker called 911 and ran outside to help.

"She's running up and down the street, screaming, 'help, help, help!" said Jonathan Finklea.

Police say the woman managed to wrestle the gun away from her husband, but then he managed to regain control of the gun.

"I pulled it ouf of his hand," said Finklea who, along with at least two other men, helped subdue the suspect and held him down until police arrived.

No one was injured during the domestic dispute.

Mondragon faces a charge of attempted murder. He's being held in the Washington County Jail and is expected in court Friday.
