PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A woman who had been banned from a downtown Portland apartment building a year ago apparently hid in a suitcase to continue entering the building.
Kola McGrath, who officers said is 5'6" and weighs 96 pounds, was arrested at the 333 Oak Apartments on a trespassing charge on Monday.
Portland police said they started to investigate when they received a report of a kidnapping involving a man who had put a woman in a suitcase and took it into the apartments.
Officers said McGrath told them she was never kidnapped, but was hiding in the suitcase because she had been booted from the apartments in April of last year.
The Oregonian newspaper spoke with a desk clerk at the apartment building who said 52-year-old Curtis Lowe had been bringing a pink suitcase into the building for months.
Police said they found McGrath in the closet when they searched Lowe's room.
McGrath has since been released from jail.
