Mag ranks top places to retire in the United States

The retirement cliche about moving south to warmer weather apparently isn't for everyone.

On a Forbes Magazine list of the best places to retire in the United States, Salt Lake City, Utah, came out on top.

It's hard to avoid the snow there, though it does get warm in the summer.

A big factor in the rankings was day-to-day economics, such as the tax burden on retirees and the cost of living.

Albuquerque, NM, and Alexandria, LA, round out the top three places to retire, according to Forbes.

Portland, alas, did not make the top 25.
