Four families have new homes thanks to 'builders blitz'

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Four local families have brand new homes thanks to some very hard-working local builders.

Habitat for Humanity held a "Home Builders Blitz 2012" during the past week.

All of the homes were constructed, from start to finish, in just seven days.

More than 100 local businesses donated all of the labor and materials.

The families will purchase the homes with a 0 percent interest mortgage.

The houses are located in southeast Portland, where a dedication ceremony was held on Friday.

Across the nation, 200 Habitat for Humanity homes were built during the blitz, which means  approximately 800 people will escape substandard housing and become proud Habitat homeowners.
