Family pleas for help to catch hit-and-run driver

BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

It's one family's plea for help.

Tatyana Tupikova was found dead on the side of State Route 503 last month in the Battle Ground area.

Police believe she was a victim of a hit-and-run, and so far no arrests have been made in this case.

Battle Ground Police say they have received some tips, but now they're hoping a reward may generate even more tips and lead them to the person responsible for Tupikova's death.

It's been a long, tough month for this family.

A month they've had to survive without Tupikova.

"Tatyana was always cheerful, outgoing and full of life. Friends and family alike said she was always smiling," said Olga Tupikova, Tatyana's sister.

Tatyana would have turned 23 years old on Saturday .

Her family is dealing with the void, knowing she'll never come home.

"Tatyana was one of 14 children and unique in her own way," said Olga.

The last time Tatyana's family saw her alive was on May 9th.

Police said she went to the Battle Ground Cinemas to watch the movie The Avengers.

It was on her walk home along State Route 503 that police said someone hit her and left her on the side of the road.

"SR 503 is a busy roadway, and we believe there were cars in that area," said Bonnie Gilberti with the city of Battle Ground.

Her body was found a few days later in the ditch next to the highway.

Police won't say whether Tatyana was in the roadway or if a car jumped the sidewalk and hit her.

Either way, her family is trying to understand.

"She loved to walk sometimes to nearby stores or to meet her friends. She was a caring person often putting others before herself," added Olga.

Police won't release details about what happened that night nor will they say if they have any leads in the case.

They did say they have received some tips, but not enough to make an arrest.

If you have any information on this case you're asked to call Battle Ground Police or Crime Stoppers at 503-823-HELP (4357)
