TriMet service extended for Grand Floral Parade

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

TriMet is making it easier for you to get to the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday morning.

All buses and Max trains are on Saturday schedules.

There will be extra trains running before and after the parade, but plan an extra 15 to 30 minutes for your trip.

Max trains will have to stop periodically for the parade.

Meanwhile, 11 bus lines will be rerouted: 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 20, 35, 44 and 54/56-intersect the parade route.

Grand Floral Parade Saturday is one of TriMet's busiest Saturdays. Bus ridership is expected nearly 40 percent more than a normal Saturday, and 60 percent more people are expected to take the Max.

Trimet has a few tips as you plan your trip:

  • Buy a round-trip fare when heading to the parade to avoid long lines afterward.
  • TriMet staff will be at several Max and bus stops to help sell tickets.
  • Expect long waits for Max trains following the parade.
  • Avoid bringing big strollers as you might have to wait even longer to find a seat.
  • Use TriMet's trip planner for information on travel, walk times, transfers and costs.

Trimet also recommends taking a regular service or a different Max line. For example, eastbound riders can catch a Green Line train on 6th Avenue and transfer to the Blue Line at Gateway Transit Center.
