OREGON COAST (KPTV) -
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is deciding how to best remove the dock that washed up on Agate Beach last week.
The dock, which was dislodged from a Japanese harbor during last year's tsunami, will be more expensive to dispose of than previously thought because it contains a good deal of Styrofoam.
Until it can be removed, the agency is urging visitors to be safe while viewing the dock. They ask that you don't try to climb up unto the dock, go at low tide, and always keep an eye on water levels and others who are with you.
The parks department is now accepting bids for removal of the dock until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13. Bidders can download the request document at http://orpin.oregon.gov/
