
A house fire in Cornelius left two people hurt but alive after another person at the home woke them up.
Firefighters arrived at 10 a.m. Saturday to flames coming from a garage that had been converted to a room.
One of the people living at the home suffered burns to their hands after trying to put the fire out.
The other person suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to a local hospital.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage area of the home.
Damage is estimated at about $40,000
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
