WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -

The Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning after a man jumped from a railroad bridge into the Lewis River.

Sheriff's officials said George Fetchik II, 30, jumped from the bridge known as the "Ghost Bridge," near Kuhnis Road in Woodland, WA.

Officials say Fetchik was swimming with friends in the area at about 6 a.m. Sunday and never resurfaced from the river.

A Clark County Fire boat located Fetchik's body about 1 1/2 hours later.

Fetchik was from Lacey, WA, and officials say he was not wearing a life vest.

Deputies are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this death.

The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Cowlitz County coroner.
