PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police are investigating a shooting in northeast Portland where one woman was hit.

Police say the shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Northeast 104th Avenue and Northeast Weidler Street.

When police arrived to the Woodlawn Park Apartments, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

Neighbors in the area said the woman was shot in the leg and was calm and talking to friends at the scene.

They said a fight broke out at the apartment complex just before the shots were fired, and with all the commotion, the woman didn't realize she had been shot.

"I went over to see if she was hurt. She said yeah, she'd been hit in the leg. And she was already on the phone with dispatch. People came back and there was a commotion and she heard the shots and felt a stinging in her leg," said Terry Johnson, who lives nearby.

Police used a K-9 unit to search for the shooter but were not able to locate a suspect.

The Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting.
