VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
People got the chance to weigh in on a proposal to ban certain fireworks from being sold in Vancouver.
The city council held a meeting to talk about fireworks that shoot into the air or fly more than 15 feet across the ground. Vancouver still allows Roman candles and aerial spinners, which are banned in Portland.
Last year, the Vancouver Elks used money from selling fireworks to support the community, a spokesman said at the meeting. Michael Wilson said the group handed out 300 food baskets, all because of fireworks sales.
The city council is set to vote on the code change at a meeting later in June. If the change is made, it wouldn't take effect until next year.
