PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man accused of pointing a gun at a Portland State University security officer now is alleged to have committed a bank robbery and carjacking later in the day, police said.

Officers said David Chilton drew his gun at a uniformed PSU public safety officer, then fled into a PSU parking garage Monday morning. Police surrounded the parking structure and closed off nearby streets for hours until they learned Chilton had somehow slipped out of the area.

Later that afternoon, police said Chilton robbed the Key Bank branch at Northeast 102nd Avenue and Halsey Street.

Officers said Chilton used a gun in the robbery and placed a box near a teller, claiming it was a bomb.

With an undisclosed amount of cash in hand, Chilton began to make his getaway, approaching a woman and demanding her SUV, according to police.

He then drove off in the white 1997 Toyota 4runner with an Oregon license plate of 110CYU.

No injuries were reported in either crime.

Chilton is described as white, 5'10" tall and 180 pounds with gray hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a dark green T-shirt and a tan baseball cap. He has many tattoos on his right forearm, police said.

Monday's incidents aren't Chilton's first run-ins with the law. In 2007, he implied he had a gun and a bomb in a bank robbery, the FBI said.

Anyone who sees Chilton or the Toyota 4Runner is asked to call 911. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
