PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A jury found a man, who spent years on the run from Portland police, guilty of murder on Monday.

Raymundo Marquez-Vela stabbed Merle Graham to death in 2007.

Graham, along with several neighbors, heard a fight on Southeast Rhone Street and went outside to break it up.

That's when Marquez-Vela stabbed Graham to death, police told FOX 12.

He evaded capture for three years, until U.S. Border agents arrested him near San Diego, CA in 2010.

Along with the jury finding him guilty of murder, a judge also found him guilty of an assault charge.

Marquez-Vela will be sentenced on June 19.
