PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A local design company has come up with a new gadget to make your life easier and they are using a popular website to raise the funds for the project.
3D Product is a development company in Northwest Portland.
On Memorial Day, they posted their iPod charger idea called Twig on the funding website Kickstarter. They now have thousands of people who have pledged money to buy one.
Twig is only 4 inches long, so it's ultra-portable and lets you plug into your computer without getting tangled like Apple's longer, white cable.
"What makes it super cool is this transforming function. So it has a metal skeleton like the old gumby toys and it allows you to torque this thing into whatever shape you want," product developer Jason Hillbourne told Fox 12.
Twig can be bent into a tripod for photos on the go or to facetime with friends.
It's being funded on the Kickstarter website, which lets shoppers purchase a product early and if all the purchases reach a funding goal set by the creator, the product will go into production.
Twig has more than 3,300 backers and they have raised more than $116,000 since it was listed on Memorial Day.
Twigs sell for $18 right now, which is several dollars cheaper than their eventual retail price.
