The Coast Guard suspended its search for a missing 14-year-old boy in the water off Cohassett Beach on Tuesday.
The boy had been swimming with a 12-year-old boy at the beach around 5 p.m. when an ocean-side undertow pulled them offshore, authorities said.
The 12-year-old managed to swim back to shore and watched the 14-year-old in the water for several minutes before losing sight of him, Coast Guard officials reported.
The Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, OR, and crews aboard a 47-foot motor lifeboat and 25-foot response boat to assist in the search.
The Coast Guard and the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Department also conducted beach patrols in the area that the boy went missing.
The joint agency was suspended at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The 12-year-old was reported to be in stable condition
