CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A driver is recovering after his SUV caught fire while driving in Clackamas County.

It happened on Thursday at about 10:21 p.m. A Good Samaritan had to rescue the man from his car on S. Redland Road near the intersection with S. Potter Road.

When sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, they found the 49-year-old driver lying unconscious beside his car.  He was taken by medical helicopter to OHSU in unknown condition.

His identity has not yet been released.

Fire crews put out the flames. They determined the fire started on or near the backseat.

The cause is unknown, but they do not believe foul play was involved.
