PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Police Bureau debuted an It Gets Better short film Friday at the Q Center in north Portland.

The "It Gets Better" movement started in September 2010 to show young LGBTQ people the levels of happiness and potential their lives can reach once they get through their teen years.

More than 50,000 user-created videos have been created since the "It Gets Better Project" began, and the videos have more than 50 million views.

The Portland Police Bureau's video features LGBTQ members of the Portland Police Bureau. The officers involved said they hope the film will inspire and positively impact teens and others in the LGBTQ community.

"Their honesty and willingness to talk about their lives in a personal and frank way is what makes the film so compelling," said Chief Michael Reese.
