REDMOND, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police said a distracted driver seriously injured a motorcyclist on Highway 97 north of Crooked River High Bridge.

Investigators said David Danner, 36, was driving with his two girls when he was distracted by a ringing cell phone just before 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Danner reportedly drifted across the centerline into a southbound lane.

An oncoming motorcycle, driven by Steven Horton, 41, tried to avoid the oncoming car but got sideswiped.

Horton was able to stay on the motorcycle, and managed to make a controlled stop on the shoulder.

Emergency crews took Horton to St. Charles Medical Center in Redmond with a serious leg injury.

He was wearing a helmet.

Danner and his two daughters, ages seven and five, were not hurt.

Troopers cited Danner for careless driving.
