PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 67-year-old woman is lucky to be alive after she was trapped in her own home.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office reports that Virginia Cartier was found in her home trapped by a dresser that she was moving.

Deputies said they were called to Cartier's home on the 12620 block of northwest Barnes Road in the Cedar Hills community, after neighbors reported not seeing or speaking to Cartier in the last four days.

Deputies attempted to located Cartier and even contacted her family who lives outside of the area. Eventually, deputies decided to force entry into the home and that's where they found Cartier seriously injured, but alive.

Officials said Cartier had been moving furniture in her home when a dresser fell and trapped her. She had serious injuries to both of her legs and was taken to Saint Vincent Hospital for treatment.

Cartier was released from the hospital on Saturday.
