PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Warm weather kept rescue crews busy on local waterways.

Crews were working to rescue a kayaker early Saturday morning. Another kayaker died Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews also rescued two other kayakers and a group of rafters Saturday.

A family of four, from Dallas, was kayaking in the North Santiam River Saturday afternoon when they encountered swift currents. They ended up in the water near Idanha.

One of the family's boys lost an oar around 2:45 p.m. The family moved him to another boat but it started taking on water. All four of them ended up in the water.

The dad and one of the boys were swept down stream but the mom and the other boy were able to swim to shore and call for help.

Rescue crews found the boy and the dad stranded on a group of rocks in the middle of the river.

They said the current was too strong to reach them by water, so they called in a National Guard helicopter to pull them out.

Both the dad and the boy were fine and none of the family members were hurt.

Crews also came to the aid of a group of rafters who's boat tipped over in Linn County.

Four people were on that raft when it happened at around 7:30 p.m.

Two people were still in the water, clutching on to debris, when fire crews arrived and were able to rescue them.

No one was hurt.
