PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland-area religious leaders are meeting Tuesday morning to discuss new protocol for gang-related funerals, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
The local pastors will sign a Covenant for Violence or Gang Related Funerals Protocol in an effort to take a stand against violence, police said.
A news conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Portland Police Bureau's north precinct.
Church leaders said they want to use their power as community leaders to try to strike a balance between speaking out against gangs while also comforting the families who have lost a loved one.
