HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -
A deal to bring minor league baseball to Hillsboro is nearing final approval, according to Hillsboro city officials.
The city announced that it has received approval from the Yakima Bears on a set of terms for a new ballpark to be built in Hillsboro along Highway 26 at the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex.
The city also released sketches, showing what the 4,500 seat stadium would look like once it's constructed.
Tuesday's announcement paves the way for final approval of the stadium deal next week and city officials say they don't foresee any problems.
The Bears play in the Single A Northwest League and are an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They currently play in the East division, while the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes play in the West division.
