Fox 12's Most Wanted has been caught on camera stealing fuel from a local nonprofit in a rash of gas thefts.
The Portland Habilitation Center said their trucks have been hit dozens of times over the past couple of years, and they're hoping someone will recognize the suspected thief seen siphoning gas in surveillance video.
PHC landscape manager Eric Sitton said he apparently cut a hole through their chain link fence to access the parking lot. Cameras captured the suspect carrying a wheel barrow, gas cans and hoses used to steal fuel.
Sitton said he and his team have tried everything from locking gas caps to keeping the fuel tanks low, but the thief has remained undeterred.
He estimated the nonprofit has lost thousands of dollars in gas, a crime especially painful right now given the high price of gas.
The Portland Habilitation Center hires and trains people with disabilities. Sitton said the recent gas thefts take from their bottom line, money which could be used to create jobs.
Anyone with information about the suspect seen in the surveillance video is urged to call Portland police.
