PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police released surveillance video Thursday in hopes it would lead to tips in the case of two men who stole almost $1,500 worth of cigarettes.

The theft happened back on May 16 at Maddy's, located at 3959 SE Powell Blvd.

The victim reported that two suspects entered the deli, and while one of the suspects sat at the bar making conversation with the bartender, the other stole multiple cartons of cigarettes.

Portland police said the pair left shortly after and the clerk later noticed the missing cigarettes.

The man who stole the cigarettes is described as black, in his 30s and 5'9" tall with a medium build and dark complexion. He was unshaven and wore a baseball cap and tan shorts at the time of the crime.

Police described the man who distracted the bartender as black, in his 20s, 5'7" tall and 180 pounds with a short haircut. He was "well-dressed," police said.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to e-mail crimetips@portlandoregon.gov.
