White powder sparks investigation at Oregon Capitol

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police are looking for answers surrounding the discovery of suspicious white powder found at the Oregon State Capitol on Friday.

OSP said someone working in the west wing office of the building found the powder after opening an envelope. The office is one of several occupied by the staff of the Governor.

OSP contained the area while they investigated. Gov. John Kitzhaber was not at the Capitol at the time. A test of the powder determined that it was not dangerous. Workers contained in their offices were allowed to leave about an hour later.
