COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, OR (KPTV) -
Two hikers who got lost during a hike on the trails above Multnomah Falls have been reunited with their family members.
The two women are identified as Holli Steyles, 32, of Oregon City and Jennifer Crawford, 23, of Portland. They were brought down the trail early Monday morning with the help of search and rescue crews. Both are said to be doing fine.
Investigators say a man called for help Sunday night when the two women didn't show up at their designated meeting spot.
The caller said he dropped them and their dog off at the start of the Larch Mountain trail on Sunday afternoon and told them he would meet them on the other end of the trail at Triple Falls, investigators said. When the women didn't show up, the man hiked around trying to find them, investigators said. He then called for help.
While search and rescue crews were assembling to begin their search, someone made contact with the women by cell phone, investigators said. The women said they were lost and had stopped on the trail after it got dark, they added.
Crews reached the hikers at around 2:20 a.m. Monday.
One of the hikers had a sore knee from the hike, investigators said.
