PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A former Salvation Army volunteer accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl is now facing charges of second-degree sexual abuse, luring a minor and online sexual corruption of a child.
Gene Olsen, who now lives in Eugene but once lived in Gresham, was taken into custody Friday at a hostel where he was staying.
Gresham police said they learned of the relationship when the victim's mother reported inappropriate sexting she had discovered involving Olsen and her daughter.
Investigators started looking into the allegation and found evidence of inappropriate contact between the two in person, police said.
Police said the pair met while they were involved with the Salvation Army, but Olsen, who is 23 years old, no longer volunteers for the organization.
Gresham detectives are now trying to find out if Olsen has any additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-618-3181.
