Blazers make qualifying offer to Nicolas Batum

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland Trail Blazers are making an effort to keep Nicolas Batum in Portland by extending a qualifying offer to the popular player, the Blazers' front office announced.

Batum is currently a restricted free agent, and the new offer gives the Trail Blazers the option to match any offer Batum might receive to play somewhere else.

The 23-year-old native of Lisieux, France was acquired in a draft-day trade with Houston in 2008.

He has averaged 10 points and four rebounds in his NBA career.
