PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
He's one of the most feared men in mixed martial arts, and now a Tualatinnative is trying to bring the UFC middleweight title home with him to Oregon.
Chael Sonnen will be in Las Vegas on July 7 for a huge pay-per-view fight,taking on champion Anderson Silva in the main event.
Sonnen was at Team Quest gym in southeast Portland on Tuesday.
He said he's ready for the fight and plans to make his home state proud.
"I was born in Oregon, I will die in Oregon. I don't even like peoplewho move away from Oregon. I am very loyal to Oregon and I take the communitiesand the schools and the people with me into the ring, with me into practiceevery day," Sonnen said.
UFC is taking a new approach to promoting the big fight.
The organization is releasing a comic strip everyday on the UFC Facebookpage featuring the fighters remade as super heroes.
