The McMinnville Municipal Court is warning the public to avoid an apparent phone scam involving someone claiming to be collecting money for the court.
According to court officials, a woman received three phone calls from a female caller who told her that her daughter had charges pending in the McMinnville Municipal Court, and that she needed to make an immediate payment over the telephone.
Authorities say they want the public to be aware that the McMinnville Municipal Court does not make telephone calls concerning payments of any kind.
Anyone with questions concerning a collections matter can call the court directly at 503-434-7402, or visit the office at 230 NE Second Street.
The court is also asking anyone who receives a similar call to contact their local police department.
