Police investigating three robberies at fast-food restaurants in east Portland

Posted: Updated:

Portland police are looking into whether there's a link between three robberies in a five-hour span on the east side of the city.

There were no injuries in any of the robberies Tuesday, and officers weren't able to find any matching suspects when they searched the neighborhoods around all three locations.

The following three robberies are under investigation:

  • 4:45 p.m.: A man demanded money and said he had a gun in a robbery at Wendy's restaurant at 2880 SE Powell Blvd. No weapon was actually seen, and the clerk couldn't open the till so the suspect fled the area on foot.

The victim described the suspect as white and in his 20s with a short build and blue eyes.

  • 4:52 p.m.: A man walked into the Baskin Robbins at 4102 SE Powell Blvd. and demanded money from the employee. Though he implied having a gun, a weapon was never seen, and the suspect fled the store and ran eastbound with an undisclosed amount of money.

The robber was described as a white man in his late 20s who wore a white baseball cap, blue jeans and a black and gray jacket.

  • 9:30 p.m.: a robber walked into the Subway at 3004 E Burnside St. and demanded money as he displayed a gun at the employee. The suspect was last seen running southbound on Southeast 29th Avenue after getting away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The victim described the suspect as a white man in his mid 20s to early 30s, 6' tall and 200 pounds with black hair, brown eyes, a medium complexion and stubble for facial hair. He wore a white baseball hat, a black shirt and tan shorts.

Though the descriptions of the robber are similar, police haven't confirmed that the three robberies are connected.
