You may love living in Portland, but it seems it can do more than make you happy - it can also clear up your skin.
The website The Daily Glow ranked Portland the best city in America for healthy skin, thanks to its low pollution and ozone rates. One dermatologist at Oregon Health and Science University agrees, saying the long rainy season makes it easier to stay out of the sun and that Portlanders seem to understand good health overall.
"In general, they eat healthy, they exercise and they are savvy about protecting their skin from the sun," said Diane Baker, MD, clinical professor of dermatology at OHSU.
Experts also say Portlanders are less likely to be smokers and have fewer occurrences of sunburns than the average American.
The Daily Glow ranked cities based on factors like dermatologists per capita, skin cancer rates and climate data. Seattle ranked at number three on the list because of its lack of sunshine.
