Vandals splatter car with paint in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Neighbors say vandals are terrorizing their community after a car was found covered in paint.

"I feel unsafe. I feel uncomfortable," said Bruce Glor, who lives in the 6000 block of Northeast 33rd Circle.

He said someone took a bucket of white paint and threw it onto a car parked right up the street from his house just a few days ago.

Neighbors gave FOX 12 a picture of the damage, which showed a blue Jetta with paint splashed on the windshield and hood.

"I have no money. I can't pay for my car to be covered like that," said Glor, who is glad it wasn't his car.

It appears that the car was targeted, since no other vehicles on the street were hit. However, neighbors said the incident is part of a bigger vandalism problem in the community.

"I thought that getting some awareness out here might help people keep their eyes open and help prevent it," said Erich Mounce, who contacted FOX 12 about the problem.

Our camera caught evidence of it everywhere.

Black spray paint covered light posts and playground equipment. People had scratched their names into electrical boxes. Graffiti covered fences and street signs.

"It's probably just a bunch of kids not realizing what they're doing," said Mounce. "But it does cause a lot of unrest for the people who live here."

Police said they are not investigating the vandalism to the car because the victim did not come forward and file a police report.

Neighbors hope anyone with information about the ongoing vandalism will call police.
