Rosenblum becomes Oregon's first female AG

SALEM, OR (AP) -

Ellen Rosenblum has been sworn in as Oregon's first female attorney general.

The retired judge took the oath of office on Friday, replacing John Kroger as Oregon's top lawyer. Kroger is leaving office six months early to become president of Reed College in Portland.

The governor appointed Rosenblum finish Kroger's term after she won the Democratic primary for attorney general last month. She is the front-runner against Republican James Buchal in November.

Rosenblum was a judge on the state Court of a Appeals and the Multnomah County Circuit Court.
