A man was hit by a car and suffered life-threatening-injuries near Southeast 70th and Foster Road Friday night.
It happened just before 9:30 p.m.
Police identified the victim as Gregory Thomas, 56, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators. Intoxication does not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to Portland police.
However, police believe Thomas was under the influence of alcohol, which may have contributed to him stepping into traffic.
The area was blocked off to traffic for several hours Friday night while police investigated the scene.
No citations or arrests have been made in this case and detectives continue to investigate.
