SEASIDE, OR (KPTV) -
The new Miss Oregon was crowned in Seaside, beating out 23 other young women for the chance to become Miss America.
Miss Willamette Valley, Rachel Berry, 24, took home the title Saturday night in front of a full house at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center.

Along with her new title, Berry earned a $10,000 scholarship. She is a graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA, and aspires to become a television news correspondent.
The new Miss Oregon says she has been trying to make it to Miss America for four years and has faced many challenges along the way.
"There is a lot of competition, but I didn't win my first three local pageants," said Martin. "It took a lot of hard work to get where I am and I persevered through it all. I did not give up."
The event also included the Miss Teen Oregon pageant. That title went to Marli Martin, 14, of Central Point.
