
The Portland Timbers are holding tryouts for two of its youth academy teams.
The open tryouts are taking place at the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Center in Beaverton from June 30 to July 1.
The tryouts are for the under 18 and under 16 Academy teams for the 2012-2013 season.
Selected players will play teams other MLS youth teams ten month season. They'll also play other young elite clubs in the Northwest Division.
The Timbers will cover the player's expenses including: team travel, operations and equipment.
The team says they will use a holistic approach in developing young players, incorporating nutrition, sports psychology, strength conditioning, speed and agility.
