Two drivers have been cited for DUII in an overnight crash on an Interstate 84 ramp that now has a passenger fighting for his life. One of the drivers is 17 years old.
It happened around 2:45 Sunday morning on I-84 westbound on the ramp to I-5 southbound.
Officers say their initial investigation shows that one driver might have been traveling the wrong way on the ramp to I-84. They say it appears that one car hit the other head on, and that both drivers were drunk.
Emergency crews rushed three people to a local hospital, one of them with critical injuries.
One driver, Jeffrey Walker, 36, was treated and released from the hospital, and given a citation for DUII.
A second, 17-year-old driver was also treated and released from a local hospital. He was booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home on charges of assault, reckless driving and DUII.
A 20-year-old passenger in the 17-year-old's car remains in a Portland hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash and the direction each car was traveling.
