Portland police arrest man accused of vandalism

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police arrested a man in connection with a vandalism at a downtown business.

It happened at about 5:15 Sunday morning at Kush Handmade Rugs on Northwest 10th Avenue near Davis.

Police arrested Joshua Stamper, 21, of Vancouver.

Officers said Stamper broke out the window of the business and was ransacking the interior, breaking vases, trashing the bathroom and destroying other merchandise.

The damage is estimated at $5,000.

Witnesses gave a description of the vandal to police, who arrested Stamper a short time later at Northwest 9th and Couch.

Police booked Stamper into the Multnomah County Jail.

He now faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief.
