Wildfire continues to burn near The Dalles

THE DALLES, OR (KPTV) -

Numerous fire crews are working to fully contain the Chenoweth Rim Fire burning near The Dalles.

The U.S. Forest Service reports 70 acres of grass and small brush have burned but it is 70 percent contained.

The fire is burning on a cliff side and was moving from the west to the east.

Firefighters are having a tough time getting water to the fire because it is burning on a cliff.

Fire officials report wind gusts of about 35 mph in the area are helping fuel that fire.

So far, no structures have burned and none are threatened.

No evacuations are in place, but officials are watching the fire and are ready to move people if the fire becomes a threat.

There are currently 60 firefighters working the fire and crews are expected to be on the fire lines throughout the night.
