HERMISTON, OR (KPTV) -

A man who parked along an I-84 on-ramp to sleep was awakened by an armed robber who pointed a gun and demanded the victim's wallet, police said.

Troopers said the robbery happened at about 4:20 p.m. at an I-84 rest area near the eastern Oregon town of Stanfield.

The 40-year-old victim from Washington parked his SUV with the windows down. Once the armed robber woke him up, he handed over his wallet to the man.

State police said the robber then walked back to his car and drove away westbound on I-84.

Troopers and officers from four police agencies searched along I-84 and I-82 in hopes of finding the man and his car, but they were unsuccessful.

Police describe the robber as black, 25 to 35 years old and 6' to 6'2" with a medium build. He's missing an upper front left tooth, is clean shaven and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt at the time of the crime.

His car is described as a late 1980s to early 1990s full-size white Chevrolet pickup truck with an unknown license plate. Troopers said the truck had custom straight duel exhaust visible under its rear bumper.
