WASHOUGAL, WA (KPTV) -
Firefighters said two cows likely died in a fire at a dairy farm in rural Clark County on Monday morning.
Crews responded to the fire at a milking shed at Stauffer's Dairy Farm on Blair Road around 12:30 a.m.
Because it's a rural farm, there were no immediate hydrants and all water needed to be trucked in by water tenders.
Stauffer's Dairy was built in 1937 and has about 140 cows on the property.
Firefighters said their main concern was protecting the livestock and getting them away from the fire.
Though fire officials hadn't confirmed the cow deaths, it's believed only two died in the blaze.
The milking shed was destroyed by the fire.
