SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
Salem and state police shut down streets near the State Capitol on Monday afternoon to investigate an unconfirmed report of an explosive device.
The north entrance to the Capitol shut down just prior to 1 p.m. That's when an unidentified man called the state police dispatch center and said there was an explosive device outside the Capitol.
Court Street between 12th and Cottage streets was shut down to car and pedestrian traffic.
The streets and the Capitol reopened a short time later though when police said they found no evidence of an explosive device in the area.
No evacuations were ordered during the incident.
Police said they plan to investigate to determine the identity of the man who placed the hoax call.
